The Hon. Timothy C. Evans ’65
Chief Judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County
The first African-American to hold the position of chief judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Timothy C. Evans has made creative and compassionate reforms aimed at changing the culture of the court in response to the needs of a large and diverse urban community. These innovations include improving the bail-setting process and streamlining the time spent from arraignment to disposition of felony cases.

Samuel Mendenhall has combined his lifelong achievements with a commitment and sustained philosophy to help others. Following his distinguished service in the U.S. Army, Mendenhall completed business and law degrees at two campuses of the University of Illinois and joined the Chicago office of Winston & Strawn, where he is a litigation partner and director of the firm’s foundation.

Carol Hillsman Sagers recently returned
to her own consulting company after completing a seven-year stint as director of
U.S. marketing for McDonald’s USA, leading the fast-food giant’s marketing
management efforts for African-American and Pan-Asian consumers. Prior to
joining McDonald’s, Sagers was the principal at CHS Marketing Consultants, a
company she founded in 1996.
