The Hon. Ryan Baker ’91 MEDIA
Sports Anchor/Director, WBBM-TV/CBS 2 Chicago
Emmy-nominated sports anchor and reporter Ryan Baker is well known for donating his time and talent to numerous Chicago-area community organizations, particularly the American Diabetes Association. Highlights of his career include his live reports from the 2010 Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup victory; the University of Illinois race to the Final Four and the historic White Sox World Series win, both in 2005; and the 2004 Olympics in Athens.
Celene Peurye-Hissong’74 LAS, MSW ’76
A philanthropic consultant with extensive experience in corporate social responsibility and community relations, Celene Peurye-Hissong recently was executive director of The Baxter International Foundation, where she led efforts to increase community access to healthcare in more than 30 countries and 15 states. A founding board member of the Chicago Abused Women Coalition, Peurye-Hissong has also served as vice president of the United Airlines Foundation and executive director of the Fel-Pro/Mecklenburger Foundation.

In 2011, distinguished attorney Jesse Ruiz was appointed vice president of the Chicago Board of Education by Mayor Rahm Emmanuel, and to the U.S. Department of Education’s Excellence and Equity Commission by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. The former chairman of the Illinois State Board of Education, Ruiz has received numerous prestigious awards for promoting equal opportunity in both the legal profession and public education.
