Illinois alumnus Brandon Dirden to portray Dr. Martin Luther King in upcoming play in NYC

“All the Way,” a Robert Schenkkan play, also features Breaking Bad’s Bryan Cranston as Lyndon B. Johnson.

A new play remembers the Rev. Martin Luther King as a rugged realist and bare-knuckles politician. U. of I. alumnus Brandon J. Dirden plays King as the man, not the myth, in “All the Way,” which opens Feb. 10.

Dirden is no newbie to the Broadway circuit. He received his MFA in Theatre from UIUC and has been in numerous shows since then. He has been researching for his role as Dr. King by reading his books and perfecting his speeches.
